Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from preparing the church bulletins and newsletters, serving on boards or committees, preparing meals for church events and volunteering to serve meals to those in need.

Music

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our worship music. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of our church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

Missions Ministry

First Baptist Church places great emphasis on our mission efforts. We believe worldwide evangelism is essential and are committed to ministering beyond the four walls of our church.

We support the American Baptist Mission Board by giving a portion of our weekly tithes and offerings. We sponsor three major mission offerings each year: America for Christ, One Great Hour of Sharing, and World Missions.  On July 29, 2019 FBC was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for the level of committment to West Virgina Baptist Convention Missions in 2018.

With an invigorated spirit toward missions FBC plans to exceed previous tithes and offerings for the express purpose of ensuring multiple means of spreading the Gospel are accomplished.  We gladly accept the challenge by Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20 to reach out into all the world with his message of love, redemption and promise through disciple making.

We are committed to supporting state and community programs such as Camp Cowen, Weirton Christian Center, North Central Community Action, and Helping Hand Clearing House.

We are in partnership with Randolph County Habitat for Humanity International, instrumental in establishing the local affiliate, and they have now teamed up with the Emergency Mobilization Plan of Randolph County. This program is for equipping people in the area in the event of emergency situation developing.

We support and encourage our membership to actively participate in mission projects locally, nationally and around the globe.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are available on live stream through YouTube. We also maintain an active Facebook feed for additional church communication.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, prayer lists are published in our worship guide for those asking for prayers for themselves or friends and family.
